SPT SD-71E Dehumidifier with Energy Star, 70-Pint

Good product
Bought this product without a review to base on, but we needed a good dehumidifier for our family room and all the other's on the market had bad reviews. I do not use the drain hose. The water bucket is easy to empty and it has a timer which we set for a 3 hr on/off cycle. As long as the power stays on, the timer remains set. It does shut completely off while other models the fan runs continuously. So far, we are happy with it, it is quite and that is important to us as the unit is in our lower level family room. It is discrete looking being all white, and slim and not very big.

Works Very Well
We live in Arizona, and while hot and arid 7-8 months out of the year, the summer monsoons raise the humidity to obscene numbers. That humidity finds it's way into your home and causes your air conditioner to work extra hard and longer to pull that humidity out of the air. This year we decided to purchase a dehumidifier--the older you get the harder it is to acclimate to hot, humid weather. ;-)

After reading the reviews on the majority of dehumidifiers both on the internet and Amazon, we decided to purchase this unit. The features like auto on/off, thermostat (humidostat?), turbo speed, timer function, etc., made us to decide to go with as many features possible so that we could customize based on our need. Additionally, the price was a big factor--this is a good value.

When the product arrived, we turned it on continuous for the first 48 hours...and emptied the bucket 2x in the first 6 hours! Over the next 10 hours we emptied 2x, and then over the next 20...

Works great
I have this running in the basement of my house, it's keeping the moisture down better than I expected. The attachment on the back to run a pipe to the drain is also really handy, so I don't need to keep emptying the bucket
