Works with some minor issue
Having decided on getting an LG dryer, I also had to get the side vent kit because my laundry closet's exhaust vent requires side venting. After installing everything, the LG side vent kit works as designed. However, I would suggest to keep in mind the following things:
1. Assembling and attaching the kit is a little tricky, so you may want to consider an LG repairman. With that said, if you consider yourself even just slightly a handyman, I think you can do it yourself.
2. As the instruction diagram shows, you have to insert your arms into the two 4-inch hole (at the back and at the side) to connect the ducting. In a sense, you will be working blindly and feeling everything with your hands. The most tricky part is duct taping the elbow joint to the inside duct. But fear not, it's not as difficult as it sounds. Just make sure you have a lot of space behind and at the side of the dryer when you are doing the side vent installation.
3. As others have...
Good except for one detail....
The product is well-made (there's really not much to it), and the directions were fairly comprehensive (for a do-it-yourselfer). One thing the instructions don't mention, which is fairly common sense, be sure to have long shirt sleeves and thin gloves. Otherwise while you're reaching into the dryer you'll slice your arm and hand up on the exceptionally sharp sheet metal of the dryer. Not a big deal though.
My biggest complaint about this product: The length of the exiting arm. It ends completely flush with the exterior wall of the dryer. Knowing this beforehand, I would have pulled the flex pipe inside the dryer and connected it to the exiting arm first, before having the exiting arm connected to the elbow. There's absolutely no way to connect an o-clamp ring outside of the dryer. It made for some additional work on my part.
I'm sure someone who does this professionally would have thought to check this all out first. But as a DIY kind of guy, I followed...
Wait a minute, not so fast!
It's expencive and you are only allowed to extend a max of 25ft and every time you add a 90% angle you need to deduct 5 feet from the total length. I had more bends and added the 90% long sweep model LT90 DRYER ELL from In-O-Vate Technologies. They take up more room but no drag and supposedly no loss on length. Forget white plastic flex hose they're a fire waiting to happen and the flex metal create drag and clog. Hope this helps.
