Wonderful for indoor use only
I own a bunch of these fans and have even given several away. They are wonderful to use in the summer when the air conditioner isn't keeping up with the heat outside. They also work well in the winter when you are stuck in a room with the heater blasting. They are fairly quiet and allow you the use of both hands. I had plenty of batteries on hand when my power was out for almost a week after Hurricane Isaac last Fall. I slept with 2 of them around my neck! While they are wonderful for inside use, they don't do anything outside. If it is hot outside, the fan just blows the hot air up into your face. It is also ineffective when it's windy outside. The fan is not that strong!
Provides Wonderful Relief from Hot Flashes!
This necklace fan is great for when I get hot flashes. I carry it in my purse. It puts out a nice flow of air for such a small device, and it's quiet, too. Haven't had it for very long, so I can't comment as to its durability over time. The reason I did not give it five stars is that the lanyard is not replaceable; it is attached directly to the unit from the inside. If it was attached with clips, then I could replace it with perhaps a slightly wider strap that would be more comfortable on my neck. Also, if the one provided were to break somehow, there is no way to replace it. Other than that, I expect to get a lot of relief from this little fan!
UPDATE 9/15/2012: I've been using the fan for a couple of months now and still loving it. In fact, I just ordered a second one! With two, I can keep one in my purse and one out at home. With only one, I'm always afraid that if I remove it from my purse while at home, I'll forget to put it back and then be without it when I'm away...
used it in the theater
I just bought this little fan because I am in menapause and when a hot flash comes on, watch out, I can go from cool to a firecracker hot in seconds. I took this little fan with me to the movies the other night and it work WONDERS!! Theaters can be a little stuffy to me anyway, there is not enought air flow movement. This little fan I kept on almost the whole movie. I did have to turn it off on silent parts of the movie because in silence it sounds loud. In regular noise or conversation, you can barely hear it. I so love this fan, its flat, lightweight and so compact I can keep it in my small purse and just pull it out when necessary.
I have only had it for a couple days and will re-write next month and see if it still is working as well as it is now :)
